Through a process of self-discovery and aesthetic fusion, I am exploring the nature of human experience. The question of what is natural particularly interests me. I approach this question with awareness that time, technology, societal expectations, and imagination have profound effects on the way we live.
Even in abstract works, I recognize that natural forms emerge, unearthed from what I observe, think, and feel. In my work I am reaching for meaning and synthesis of experience. Meaning is given to ordinary occurrences through associations, re-positioning in a fluid process. Re-imagining my surroundings brings greater clarity to disconnected experiences, allowing me to dig deeper in everyday life. As Thoreau wrote in Walden, I would drink deeper, fish in the sky, whose bottom is pebbly with stars.
