Deep Burrow
Deep Burrow
Acrylic and collage on wood panel
2010

Deep Burrow examines Thoreau’s idea that we use our minds and imaginations to “mine” and burrow” beyond “the mud and slush of opinion, and prejudice, and tradition, and delusion, and appearance.” He advises that we not be “thrown off the track by every nutshell and mosquito wing that falls upon the rail.” Through this deep burrowing, we can uncover a stream of deeper meaning in what we experience, and, conversely, shape our experiences to come.
